Vancouver public schools welcome international students!
Vancouver School Board is one of the largest public school districts in western Canada. There are 18 secondary schools, over 90 elementary schools and 2 adult high schools enrolling 50,000 students.
The International Education Program gives overseas students the opportunity to study together with Canadian students. By integrating international students into the education system, students interact and learn from each other.
All Vancouver public schools are co-educational and no uniforms are required. Vancouver schools offer excellent support for international students. Students will be given English language support where necessary. Each school has a library, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a school nurse, and counsellors to assist all students in course planning and study skills.
There are many extra-curricular activities including photography, sports, drama, chess, skiing and community service. Students may enroll in a wide variety of excellent academic, fine arts, language and computer studies programs.
Emphasis is put on learning through class discussion, individual essays and projects, group presentations, and independent research. Being an active participant in class discussions and asking teachers for clarification of a concept or idea is an integral part of the educational program.
Credentials earned in the Vancouver School District are recognized worldwide.

In every Vancouver public high school, students can enroll in a wide variety of excellent elective programs in art, dance, film, drama, fashion design, band, choir, musicals and orchestra. Information technology including visual and graphic arts, CAD design and robotics are also offered. Sports and fitness are popular elective programs among Vancouver students. For students who like to learn a second or third language, they can take one or more language programs that include French, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. There are many other elective programs for students to choose from, such as biology, anatomy, physics, chemistry, geology and more.
